Hi I’m Lara Mulcahy – Musical Theatre Coach & Performance Mentor

As a performer with more than 2o years experience, I am not only very passionate about this industry but have first-hand knowledge on what it takes to succeed.

As a Coach and Mentor it is my mission to help performers in all genres truly get the most out of their performance so they never waste another audition opportunity.

You can never be too prepared in this business, so having a professional by-your-side – who still works in the industry – who can share their expert experience and invaluable insights, is worth its weight in gold!

My Background

I’ve been a part of the entertainment industry since I was a very young child. My mum had her own dance school and I grew up singing, dancing and performing in shows for as long as I can remember.

My first job was as a singing, acting and tap dance teacher for a major talent school in Perth WA; and it was at this time I also studied a Bachelor Of Arts in Musical Theatre at The West Australian Academy of Performing Arts.

After graduating from WAAPA I moved to Sydney to begin work as an actor/singer and I’ve been working professionally ever since. I have performed in musical theatre, film, television, cabaret and theatre both in Australia and overseas including the UK, Singapore, Hong Kong, Korea, South Africa, New Zealand and Canada.

I’ve coached and mentored both adults and children with highlights that include:

  • 5 of my students being cast as Gavroche, Little Cossette and Little Eponine in the original production of Les Miserables{Perth Tour 1990}
  • Guest Mentor/Coach for the Audition Guru’s “Annie” Masterclass
  • Special Guest Mentor for GreenRoom Project on the Gold Coast working with 6 cabaret artists for a special one off show.
  • Guest Speaker at the Redlands College Drama Presentation Night 2011 – inspiring the next generation of performers.
  • Coaching actors & performers to help prepare their audition material for headline shows including “Moonshadow,” “Strictly Ballroom” and “Wicked.”
